Per-grade FDA 21 CFR 177 and EU 10/2011 food-contact declarations plus EU 2024/3190 (BPA) status are provided with the quotation. Medical device parts run through ISO 13485 certified partner moulders, with biocompatibility (ISO 10993, USP Class VI) as manufacturer documentation per grade. Korean MFDS food-contact compliance is reviewed at finished-article level.
PPSU moulded parts — repeated sterilisation, food contact and hot-water parts to your drawing
PPSU (polyphenylsulfone) is the amorphous super-engineering plastic with the highest impact strength and repeated-steam-sterilisation durability in the sulfone family, and the standard material for injection-moulded medical device, baby bottle and hot-water appliance parts. Octud, the official BASF Ultrason® P 3010 distributor, supplies both the resin and moulded parts to customer drawings.
When PC cracks or discolours in boiling water, detergents and repeated disinfection, PPSU is the material you move up to. Octud holds the resin in Korean stock and supplies parts through ISO 13485 and food-contact specialist partner moulders.
PPSU is amorphous: no crystallisation shrinkage, so moulding shrinkage is low (about 0.6%) and isotropic. Tight-tolerance parts can be moulded straight to size, and its amber transparency suits fluid-visualisation parts. Notched impact of 70 kJ/m² is the highest in the sulfone family, and it withstands more than 1,000 cycles of 134°C steam sterilisation — the reason it became the standard for reusable medical instruments and baby bottles. Made without BPA or BPS, it is also the high-temperature food-contact answer after EU 2024/3190.
Moulding is a high-temperature process. The resin is hygroscopic and must be dried thoroughly; barrel temperatures run 340–380°C and mould temperatures 140–180°C (general ranges — the TDS governs), which needs mould temperature control beyond ordinary presses. Partner criteria therefore include dehumidifying dryers, hot-tool capability and annealing. Colours such as black need colorants made for high-temperature processing.
The typical Korean enquiry is a conversion from PC, Tritan™ or PETG — parts that cracked, yellowed or warped in hot water, dishwashers or repeated disinfection. Shrinkage differs, so tooling may need adjustment; the material upgrade guide covers the review.
